Anonymous, do you speak from experience? Have you been to Egypt and other places in the Middle East? I am fascinated by the perceptions that Americans have of people they have never met and hope that you have some first-hand experiences to back up your statements.

I couldn't disagree more with your statements and believe that the Egyptian people are just as entitled to freedom and democracy as we are and as all people are.

I know many kind and generous people from throughout the Middle East.

Making judgements of people based on what you see on TV news is not wise. How would you like it if people in other countries judged all Americans by what they saw on the news during Hurricane Katrina?
The USA has had its dark moments in the lens of the news cameras. We've looked pretty bad to others but were we all looters and shooters on the streets of New Orleans? Didn't our National Guard go into a crowd of demonstrators and shoot our own citizens at Kent State in the 1970s?

History is compelling. It shows that we have all behaved pretty badly for centuries, at one time or another.

Interesting article. It does not surprise me at all that the middle east treats their animals this way. Look at how they treat each other. Any apparent form of 'democracy' or 'civil' behavior in the middle east is a farce. This is how they have behaved for centuries.

Thanks,Fran for this article. If anyone has info on what happened to these poor horses and camels, please let us know. CNN and MSNBC differ in their reports. We reached out to both sets of reporters, but as you can imagine, I doubt they have time to answer.
